Sweeney Todd (also known as Benjamin Barker) is a fictional character who vows vengeance in the Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Johnny Depp stars in the title role — in his sixth collaboration with director Tim Burton — as a man unjustly sent to prison who takes revenge not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his family. When he returns to London to open his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who "shaved the faces of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard of again".

The role of Sweeney Todd earned Depp the Golden Globe for Best Actor (Comedy or Musical), his first Golden Globe win after seven nominations. In addition, Depp was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar in the 2008 Academy Awards. The film itself won the 65th Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical).
